Survey of the hydrogeological characteristics of the Barreiras And Itapecuru Aquifer in the Rio Paciência-MA Hydrographic Basin-MA
Abstract
The hydrographic basin of the Paciência river, is located in the central region of Ilha do Maranhão, and has an area of 145.7 km², being constituted by the main Paciência river, which has an extension of 32 km, being one of the most important genuinely ludovicense sources. This work has as main objective to contribute to the knowledge of the hydrodynamic behavior of the aquifers belonging to the Barreiras and Itapecuru Groups, highlighting their potential and vulnerability as well as subsidizing for an increase in knowledge of these parameters in which they are essential for decision-making by bodies responsible for water management in cities. The characterization of the Barreiras and Itapecuru aquifers was carried out by analyzing the hydrodynamic data of the 13 tubular wells of CAEMA and 12 tubular wells belonging to SAAE (Paço do Lumiar). Among the results obtained in the analysis of the hydrodynamic characteristics of the wells, it is noteworthy that the CAEMA wells have the following averages: Depth of 69m, Flow of 19.04 m³/h, Static Level of 19.20m, Lowering of 4.75m and a thickness of 38m, the SAAE wells have the following averages: depth of 56.83m and flow of 24.16 m³/h. Based on the analysis of these data, it is understood that it is necessary to apply environmental policies that can prevent the inappropriate use of these aquifers, especially because of their great importance for maintaining water on the Island.
