Abstract

This work aimed to study the physical-chemical and microbiological quality of the water from a tubular well located in the Alegre site in the municipality of Lagoa Seca-PB. The collection for the physicochemical analysis was performed using transparent bottles of 2 liters of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). For the microbiological analysis, a volume of 500 ml of water was collected in a vial previously sterilized with 0.5 ml of 1.8% sodium thiosulfate. The samples were sent to the Laboratory of Chemistry (LQ) of the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Paraíba (IFPB), campus of Campina Grande-PB and to the Laboratory of Food Processing of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), campus of João Pessoa-PB, to carry out the analyzes. The physico-chemical and microbiological analyzes were determined according to the analytical norms of the Instituto Adolfo Lutz (IAL, 2008). Microbiological parameters were evaluated according to the presence of total coliforms, thermotolerant coliforms, E. coli and heterotrophic bacteria. Among the physicochemical parameters evaluated, the electrical conductivity and chloride are in disagreement with the consolidation order of nº 5/17. According to the results obtained with the microbiological analyzes, the presence of total coliforms, thermotolerant coliforms and heterotrophic bacteria in said water sample was detected. However, the presence of E. coli bacteria was not detected. According to Ordinance No. 05/2017, tubular well water can not be destined for human consumption, since they have microbiological parameters outside the standards allowed by Brazilian legislation.
